Greetings! I'm a certified educator (Elementary Ed and Special Ed) with over 10 years of teaching in private, public, and nonpublic schools. I've taught all grades kindergarten through community college and both taught for or managed three summer learning programs. I've also been tutoring throughout my 10 years of classroom experience.
I specialize in writing for all grades, and I've written ELA curriculum for 2 schools. Most recently I taught lower and middle school reading and writing.
Everyone in my life knew I would become a teacher since the day I started my own neighborhood business as a ten year old: Saturday Side School. Twelve years later I graduated with my Master of Arts in teaching, and I've been doing it ever since. Now I'm transitioning to tutoring and curriculum development so I have more time to spend with my new daughter.
I've taught and designed writing curriculum for grades 2-5, which aligned with the school's reading program and occasionally art&science. I've also taught writing for 3 years at a community college, summer writing courses for middle and high school, and tutored writing for the last 5 years.
I'm certified in Elementary Ed and have taught at this level for 9 years. I can assess needs of students and work to fill in the gaps as well as enrich.
I'm trained in several phonics curricula and I'm an Orton-Gillingham Community Educator, a multi-sensory strategy for all but especially helpful for those with language-based learning difficulties.
I will be happy to correspond with your child's teachers and service providers to best meet the individual needs of each student I tutor.
Looking forward to meeting you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Most recently, I taught in a nonpublic school approved for specific learning disabilities and other health impairment, meaning that at least 60% of our students received one or both of those diagnoses on their IEP. I'm certified in Special Education (1-8) from MSDE. In addition, many of my regular ed classroom students qualified as ADHD according to their IEPs or private testing.
I taught in a nonpublic special education school in which about 20% of our population was diagnosed as autistic. I have also taught in the general education classroom while meeting the needs of several autistic students. I currently tutor two students with autism. The term Aspergers is not currently being used but rather students with that profile now fall under the label of autism. I'm certified in Special Education (1-8) from MSDE.
I've taught in schools using Common Core, participated in training for PARCC testing, facilitated PARCC testing, and reviewed and selected materials for implementing Common Core. I also wrote ELA curriculum aligned with common core for two schools.
In addition to coursework and professional development for language-based needs, I'm certified as a community educator in the Orton-Gillingham methodology. I've also worked closely with speech/language pathologists to incorporate session goals into the classroom. I'm certified in Special Education from MSDE. Most recently I taught in a nonpublic special education school approved for specific learning disability (this includes dyslexia) and other health impairment.
I have an MAT in Elementary Education, and I've been teaching in the elementary classroom for 10 years. I have an Advanced Professional certificate in Elementary Ed from MSDE. I've also been tutoring elementary-aged students for the last 10 years.
I'm a certified teacher with 10 years of classroom experience in first through sixth grade classrooms. I've taught math in public and private schools using a variety of curricula. I can provide Common Core-focused instruction as well as route memorization and practice if desired.
I've taught both print and cursive handwriting at 3 different schools. I'm familiar with Zaner-Bloser, D'Nealian, and Handwriting Without Tears. I've also made modifications to typical programs in order to better meet some needs of students.
I've been teaching phonics for the last 10 years. I have training in several phonics curricula and methodologies. I'm certified as a Community Educator in the Orton-Gillingham methodology and implement it regularly in the classroom and in tutoring sessions. I also worked as part of a team to implement OG fully into our elementary and middle school classrooms.
I have taught reading in all grades, kindergarten through community college. I've taught elementary reading using a variety of curricula, and I wrote curriculum for third grade reading/writing. I can teach comprehension skills and strategies as well as content.
I'm certified in a Special Education from MSDE. I've been teaching in a nonpublic special education school for the last year. My previous school (7 years of employment) was an inclusive private school in which about 40% of our students were special needs. I've worked with students with ADHD, autism, NVLD, ACC, TBI, and variety of speech/language difficulties including dyslexia.
