I am an experienced former business owner, manager, technician and computer industry professional. While I am a strong advocate for all of our schools educational subjects, I enjoy teaching history the most because it is often the one subject that most people can readily relate to no matter what year it is.
History and social studies have always been my greatest passion. As a young student I often got into trouble for reading ahead of the class in our history books and had to be pulled back to the herd. I also found myself coaching other students in subjects like history, reading and science. I also know the pain and disappointment of falling behind in a subject that might appear complex and overbearing. I am of the opinion that anyone can learn anything if he or she is willing to go the distance.
It is that dedication and commitment that I bring to my students no matter who they or where they are in life. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
