About Katie

I am currently a teacher in Calvert County Public Schools. I have experienced working with students from Pre-K to high school in all areas. I am available for tutoring during the evenings and on weekends. I became a teacher because I want to help children learn as I have learned from my teachers. I am passionate about my profession and hope to strengthen my skills as I begin tutoring.

I am knowledgeable of the new common core standards and the new mathematical methods used in the school system. I am certified to teach students math from the grades of Pre-K to sixth grade in both general education and special education. I have experience working with students in high school as well.

I have an extra endorsement on my teaching certificate in reading. I am certified to work with students on reading skills in grades Pre-K to sixth grade in both general education and special education. I also have experience working with students in high school as well.

I am certified to teach students in all subjects in the grades K- sixth. I have the most teaching experience with Kindergarten, First Grade, and Fifth Grade.

I am trained in phonics programs adopted by Prince Georges County Public Schools, St. Mary's County Public Schools, and Calvert County Public Schools. I have different materials for all ages at home to use when I am tutoring based on the required skills we are working on.

I am eager to begin tutoring students in my area! I can be contacted anytime between 7 am and 10 pm seven days a week.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
