I am currently a college student, studying Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Writing. I have been tutoring for 4 years, primarily in writing and grammar, although I have extensive experience within the sciences. In high school, I tutored at least once a week, through NHS to help typically elementary and middle school students with their homework. I've also come from a family with a bunch of kids, where everyone has sports and activities on top of regular school, so I try to make myself available for tutoring on a very flexible schedule to accommodate those students with a lot on their plate.

Aside from being a STEM major, I've also had multiple research positions, giving me an insight into practical application of scientific principles. It also gives me some pretty cool stories to help get your child engaged in the material they're learning. I know from experience that connecting learning to its use and function works wonders on motivation. When I began to work on thesis development and my own research, when I had interest in the subject, it became easy to lose hours of time searching out new papers to read and connected subjects to learn. Its my goal to try and pass on this skill, and I hope it would help students prepare to learn things without the guidance of teachers and tutors. My tutoring philosophy focuses on cultivating understanding and skill development, trying to build the bridges that allow a child to learn effectively beyond the tutoring session. I believe that effective teaching involves creating a network and connecting information to allow a student to see beyond the singular problem and learn interactively.

Prior to the suspension of in-school classes, I was preparing for a position at my college's Writing Center. I have tutored in various aspects of English, from reading with elementary students through development of voice and clarity with college peers. I also acted as editor of the annual writing magazine for my college for 3 years and as the president of that magazine for 1 year,
