##### About Tara

I have enjoyed teaching for over 19 years. I began my career teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten, along with constructing their curriculum. I then moved on to teaching grades 1-5, self-contained classrooms for the next 12 years. I spent a year teaching middle school for Language Arts in grades 6-8. During all these experiences I began tutoring students at all grade and academic levels in many subject areas.

I'm now an Instructional Specialist for my district. I'm responsible for planning, developing, and presenting professional learning at school and the county level. I co-teach and plan with teachers K-5, mostly in the areas of Mathematics and Science. I developed and implemented a school wide Extended Learning Opportunity Program for students struggling in Math and Science. I create initiatives to improve pedagogy and student growth at the Elementary level. I have presented at parent workshops to inform parents about the Common Core.

I provide feedback to teachers on instruction and planning, and model best practices through demonstration lessons.

I have had over 18 years experience teaching Math to all grade levels. I've also worked in several different schools, experiencing many different learning levels and styles. As the years went on, I kept adding to my instructional strategies and techniques. This allowed me to reach many different learners. I minored in Math during my undergraduate studies as well.

I try to make learning fun! I relate skills to real-life situations. This helps students understand why it is so important to learn these skills. Since I have so many years of experience, I use many different ways to instruct students. I've had many, many successes working with students over the years...even the most difficult learners.
