Teaching has always been a passion of mine due to its extreme importance and fulfilling nature. My strongest qualities are the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate physics and mathematical principles, theories, and concepts to an audience of all ages. I am highly motivated, achieving my PhD in 4.5 years. I have a passion for learning new things, especially new ways to teach.
I was awarded my PhD in physics at Lehigh University in 2010 and I received a Bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics at Ramapo College of New Jersey in 2006.
I have three years experience teaching at the college level. I have taught several different introductory physics labs that were geared toward non-science and science majors, physics majors, engineering majors, and pre-med students at Lehigh University and American University. These introductory lab classes reinforced every major topic in physics. I have received excellent student evaluations in all of the classes I have taught.
I have also been a private tutor and mentor throughout my undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral career (over 10 years). I have tutored students of all ages and abilities. These experiences have given me the capability to explain difficult concepts to a general audience. This one-on-one interaction is important and necessary in order for students to learn at their own pace.
Math has been a my passion for my entire life, which is why I am able to relate to the math concepts and explain them in a way best suited for the student.
Once I was introduced to a science that applied math, I was hooked. Physics is fun and interesting and I can help explain physics principles with real-world demonstrations for better understanding.
I look forward to hearing form you and helping you become successful in math and physics. Teaching has always been a passion of mine due to its extreme importance and fulfilling nature. Michelle is proving to be an excellent geometry and physics tutor for my son. Within the first session, she was able to clarify key concepts and provide him with advance preparation for the coming week's quiz and new material. My son's confidence improved immediately. After only two sessions, we are going to increase from once to twice a week in preparation for end of trimester exams. Michelle has a very warm personality, and she is professional, on-time, and responsive to our requests. We've found a good match!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a PhD in physics from Lehigh University.
