In my thirteen years of teaching I have served as a preschool teacher, Chinese teacher for grades one through six, and a 2nd grade teacher. I love working with children of all ages, especially Kindergarten through 2nd grade. I am loving, warm, organized, always prepared, creative, and an excellent communicator. I plan exciting lessons, which keep all students engaged, as well as great classroom management skills. I am dedicated to make my subject matter useful, interesting, and relevant to my students. Children learn best by doing in a non-threatening environment. My teaching style is to encourage students to figure out solutions themselves using the skills they have learned through variety of activities. Therefore, students will be able to have confidence to face the challenge.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native Chinese speaker and hold a master's degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught Chinese to Elementary and Middle School students at Faith Baptist Christian School located in Laurel, Maryland from 2001 to 2011. I will be teaching Chinese at First Baptist School of Laurel for the 2013-2014 school year.
I teach students Pinyin (Chinese phonetic system), grammar, vocabulary, Chinese characters, culture, games, and hands-on activities. My students have enjoyed their Chinese learning experiences and have developed a great enthusiasm for using the language.
