I am fortunate to have over ten years of teaching and mentoring experience. My PhD is in philosophy, and I specialize in moral and political theory. In addition to working with college students, I have considerable experience tutoring high school and middle school students in classics, English, history, literature, politics, and religion.
I am passionate about making complicated ideas accessible, as well as assisting others to write clearly and generate strong arguments. My personal approach to tutoring is to assess the main idea of each assignment, break down the assignment into discrete units, and tackle each component one at a time.
I am available most days from 9am to 9pm. My base rate is $100/hour.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught courses on ancient philosophy. I have therefore taught the two giants of ancient theory: Plato and Aristotle. I have also taught the pre-Socratics, the Stoics, and Epicureanism.
I have taught courses on the theory and history of punishment. I also have one published peer-reviewed journal article on theories of incarceration. In the paper, I defend non-retributive theories.
I have taught film studies courses. I know a great deal about the history of cinema, as well as the major film theories. I have connected both theory and history, when, for instance, I have taught Guy Debord's The Society of the Spectacle in relation to French New Wave.
I majored in political science. I have also taught many political theory and history courses. My dissertation was also on contemporary political theory and how it informs contemporary debates on education.
I have experience giving many public lectures on a wide variety of topics. These topics include incarceration, higher education, and economic inequality. I also have experience mentoring college and middle school students on debate.
I have taught courses on philosophy of religion and the history of religion. I can teach on subjects such as the metaphysics of God and proofs for God's existence. I can also teach on subjects such as how the ancient Greeks understood God, Roman paganism, the transition from Roman paganism to Christianity, and medieval theories of God.
