I'm John and I am a sophomore double major at the University of Maryland studying Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. My advanced STEM education began in middle school, when I attended Takoma Park Middle School in the Math, Science, and Computer Science Magnet Program. I then attended Montgomery Blair High School in the Math, Science, and Computer Science Magnet Program where I was exposed to a significant amount of advanced STEM coursework. Here, I was able to benefit from the exceptional teachers and resources that spurred me to do my best and allowed my efforts to develop into success.
I now attend the University of Maryland, College Park, studying Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. I was inspired to study these subjects due to the positive experiences learning this material and by observing the intense passion my professors showed in their fields of expertise. While I haven't had formal experience tutoring or teaching in the past, I spend significant time at school helping out my classmates on a daily basis. I regularly volunteer more than an hour a day working with my classmates and my dormmates to help them understand topics in engineering, physics, chemistry, and mathematics. I love watching others make intellectual connections they couldn't before, and I believe watching others' knowledge grow is one of the most enriching parts of tutoring.

In high school, I took coursework in Single-Variable Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, AP Statistics, Engineering Design, Materials Science, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Thermodynamics, and Quantum Physics, all of which I passed with flying colors.
At the University of Maryland I have taken a large amount of mathematical and engineering coursework, and with a GPA of 4.0, all of it has been aced. The engineering coursework I have taken includes Statics, Mechanics of Materials, Dynamics, and CAD. I have also taken supporting scientific coursework for my engineering classes which includes Chemistry, Physics 1, and Physics 2. I have taken a large number of 300- and 400-level math courses, including Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Number Theory, Real Analysis, and Introduction to Probability Theory. This semester I am taking Thermodynamics, Physics 3, Advanced Linear Algebra, and Complex Variables. My large breadth of engineering, science, and math courses and my advanced understanding of the subjects lend me great ability to teach other students in these topics.

I hope to be able to help you learn whatever is bringing you difficulty now. I love learning and I love helping others learn, so please don't hesitate to reach out for more information or to set up a tutoring session!

Highly recommended tutor!

John helped my son better understand concepts in Honors Chemistry in a way that was preferable to his learning style. He came prepared for the lesson and broke down complicated concepts into simple steps that were easy to follow. He is very flexible and eager to accommodate students' needs. I highly recommend John and will be contacting him for future lessons.
