I am a creative and passionate educator who enjoys working with learners of all ages. I believe that education is one of the most precious gifts you can receive. Learning should be engaging, hands-on, and relevant to real-world experiences. I am currently a lead teacher for 50 3rd grade students. This school year I teach Science, Math, and Wellness. Last year, I taught six subjects as a lead teacher in 2nd grade.

I have experience teaching early literacy skills focusing on phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension. I also enjoy working to help learners expressive themselves through writing. I have experience tutoring in Middle School Math up to Geometry and Algebra 2. Tutoring is special to me because it is a more focused and individualized approach. I tailor lessons and activities to the interests of the learner to ensure that content is culturally responsive and meets the need of the learner.

Teaching math is teaching logic and reasoning. The way a person looks at and processes numeracy enables them to build on more complex concepts in the future. I am confident that the skills I have will help scholars learn to problem solve, think critically, and conceptualize equations. I will also be sure to build foundational skills in Math, and help learners choose strategies that work best for them.

When teaching children in elementary grades, I am working to build a love for learning. Lessons will be appropriate to age and ability, and incorporate fun activities to help build proficiency of skills. Learners at this stage should be engaged in hands-on activities that build foundational skills needed for more challenging content. Art and technology integration is important to help learners build 21st century skills needed to be successful in the future. We will set goals and track progress to ensure learners are growing and learning appropriately.
