I'm currently a graduate student at Tulane. At Tulane, I've tutored in math, statistics, and economics. Before I was a student at Tulane, I was a public school teacher. I taught math and science on the middle school level. I have also taught elementary school and special education. I have also worked as a home-hospital teacher who taught all subjects to middle school students who were hospitalized and unable to attend school. So I have a lot of teaching experience!
I am a very patient person who has had to work hard to do well in school. I went to Stanford for undergrad, and I taught in Compton for two years, so I am adaptable to working with all walks of life!
In addition to being a former math teacher, I have taken numerous upper division math and statistics classes. I scored in the 96th percentile on the GRE.
I've tutored college students and taught and tutored 3-11th grades. I am available for summer tutoring in math, reading, and test prep. I prep before I come to see you so I don't waste your time! Stephanie is the best! She provided me with multiple strategies for the GRE while encouraging me to use my own intuition and problem solving skills. She makes me feel confident and capable! I came to her completely lost and unprepared for the test with only a month and a half to study. She dedicated nearly four hours a week to me! I'm so, so grateful. Thank you Stephanie!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
