I recently had my first session with Ken and I must say it went perfectly. He's extremely professional and he knows his craft inside and out. I am looking forward to learning all I can from him because with his help I will become the designer I know I can be.
This was my first lesson today. Ken immediately began to get down to business after asking me what I need help with and what I planned to accomplish We went over machine basics, he explained various things such as thread types fabric types, stitching, tension and he demonstrated his abundant knowledge and teaching of learning how to begin sewing and the first steps to using my Industrial Consew and lightweight Singer. At the end I was positive about being able to start my Seamstress Business. Very impressive!!
In two short hours, Ken took me (a total neophyte) through the basics of my machine's operations and taught me some basic skills to begin sewing a few items that I wanted to work on. I learned to thread my own bobbins; some basic fabric properties; a basic stitch; how to make button holes; how to trim with bias tape (never even knew what it was called!); how to attach D rings; and more. Ken is extremely informative and accessible. If you want to learn to sew, he's your guy!
Patient, addressed my concerns, made sure I understood the concept and could do it hands-on before going on to the next item. Recommend without reservations. Very likable person. Would use again.
I am so happy that I picked Ken as my sewing instructor. He knows his stuff and he is so patient with me as I am learning. His personality is great and I feel comfortable working with him. I have lots of questions which he always takes the time to answer. I always look forward to our lessons because I learn so much. He does not waste my time and make sure each lesson is packed with helpful instruction.
Ken is a great sewing instructor! I cannot say enough good things about him... I'm really happy with my pick to teach me how to sew.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
