I am a recent graduate as a math major with a strong background in computer science. I'm willing to work with all ages and learning levels. I think math should be fun, and sometimes you just need to look at things a little bit differently. I've done a great deal of high school and college tutoring, and have also worked with middle school students.
I think the most important part of tutoring is to assist the student to figure out the problem him- or herself, and most importantly, the answers should never be handed to him/her.
On the language arts front, I've been proofreading various newsletters since 8th grade, and have been proofreading essays (mostly for other students) since the beginning of high school. I think proofreading gets a bad reputation from the fact that many times a lot of things can be improved, but just because something can be improved doesn't make it bad. It just means it could be better.
The main reason I'm here is that one of my high school teachers asked me to help out a student one year, and the difference that I was able to make in her math class and her gratitude inspired me to do what I could to help more people like her, and to help more students succeed and enjoy their classes.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
