Teaching has always been my passion. I have been trained as an English teacher at the FHB University in the Ivory Coast, a French speaking country. Needless to say that French is my primary language.
More importantly, I migrated to the USA in the 90's and frequented the American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts where I was trained as a special Education teacher. I was particularly interested in teaching Algebra. I ended up teaching French and Algebra at Mary Lyon School in Boston and later at Resiliency Preparatory School in Fall River, Massachusetts. During my training I kept with me a very important theory by Dr. Howard Gardner: Multiple Intelligences, which states that anyone can learn in the proper environment with the proper method.
I have been trained as a special education teacher at American International College and Algebra1, Algebra 2 and Prealgebra were my forte.
French is my primary language and all my schooling has been done in French before I migrated to the USA in the 90's.
I was trained as a Special Education teacher and I have learned a great deal about a large spectrum of special needs students and how they learn the most. As a matter of fact, I still deal with special education individual in other settings such as group homes and Day programs.
My training caused me to see a teacher student relationship as a community of learners. I believe that both my students and I learn from each other in a relax environment. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
