I am a certified teacher in the field of elementary special education. I graduated from the University of Maryland with a BA in education, and am currently enrolled there to receive my master's of education. I love working with students of all ages, and trying to determine unique learning styles of for lessons that are created specifically for your own needs and interests. I am hard-working and patient, and will do whatever it takes to help you learn and excel in whatever area you need a little extra support with.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified special education teacher. I have worked with students with ADD and ADHD in the past with positive results. I know how to help them stay on task and focused during lessons.
I took AP art in high school and did a 2-year certification in art in college. I enjoy drawing and painting in my free time. I would teach students in this area creatively and patiently.

I am an avid proponent of physical fitness being a core part of everyone's life, in a way that is healthy and fun for the individual. I personally enjoy running, hiking, and yoga in my free time. I was a personal fitness coach for a woman with Autism for 2 years, where I helped improve her physical fitness over time.
I have worked with a student with Autism using applied behavior analysis to teach him handwriting skills for basic letter formation. I can expand this to teaching other types of student handwriting skills as well. I am also experienced in working with Kindergarten students and handwriting activities and worksheets through my substitute position in elementary schools.
I have worked with the SPIRE phonics reading intervention with elementary students in the past. I have improved K-3 grade students' abilities to read and decode words. I am willing to learn other systems to fit the individual's needs in learning phonics skills.
