In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a MA from Capital Bible Seminary where I took 62 credits in biblical studies and biblical counseling. These credits include courses in Bible survey, Greek grammar, Greek exegesis, and biblical counseling. Prior to my studies at Capital I graduated from Washington Bible College with a BA in biblical studies. During this program I specialized in biblical interpretation and mastering hermeneutics. I took 4 courses dedicated to principles of biblical interpretation that equipped me to understand biblical literature. I adhere to a literal historical approach to biblical hermeneutics. Since I believe the Bible is best understood within it's historical context I have earned numerous credits for studying biblical history and cultures.
I have taught Bible in a classical academic setting since 2006. During this time I have taught courses on biblical hermeneutics, bible survey, biblical history, and Christian theology. Additionally I am certified by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) as a Professional Bible Specialist.
