Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Flash

I have been working with Flash using it to build web sites for about the last 3 years. I have used it extensively for banners, ads, flash galleries and other things. I have also been using the Action Script 3.0 in Flash CS5 version.

Adobe Illustrator

I use Illustrator regularly for logo design. I will teach you how to use the tools on the tool bar. I will show you how to apply layers, work with gradients, and change the color of images and convert and image to a vector graphic. I will teach you how to save files in different formats and how to import and export your files.

Adobe InDesign

Originally I began using PageMaker and Quark and made the transition over to Indesign when PageMaker was discontinued. I have been using Indesign for about 3 years and have loved it. I use it to do my own business cards (then sent to printer), brochures, fliers, posters, and wireframe mockups for web sites to show to customers

Adobe Photoshop

I have been a Photoshop user since it was called Photostyler and made by Aldus. It is a great program and an essential tool for the modern designer.

Bible Studies

Having served 18 years as a senior pastor and 8 1/2 years as an instructor in a couple different Christian colleges I love teaching the Bible. Teaching the Bible verse by verse and dealing with original Greek and Hebrew text has given me many insights into the Scriptures.

Desktop Publishing

I learned Desktop Publishing when I was a pastor. I started making up my own bulletins and brochures to save money using Quark on a Mac and PageMaker on Windows. Since then I still do Desktop publishing in my IT business for some of my customers. I have taken a couple of course from a local community college on Indesign and graphic design.

I have 9 years of experience in Dreamweaver since when they were owned by Macromedia. Presently I use CS6. I own an IT company working with small businesses and do a lot of training in how to maintain your own website. I will teach you how to setup a web site, how to organize your files, how different hosting providers arrange their HTML folders, and how to both upload and pull down files from a remote server. I will teach you how to setup a local testing server such as Xampp on Windows and Wamp on a Mac. I will teach you how to create and reuse a template for building a uniformed web site. You will learn the following: how to layout pages with CSS, how to insert Flash video and sound, how to use library items and code snippets, how to work in Code View, how to work with forms in (html, cgi script, and php form to email), and how to work with Adobe's Spry Framework.

I spent 17 years as a senior pastor working with my Greek Testament on a daily basis. I have had 4 years of Koine Greek and 3 years of exegesis studies. My major area of interest has been in the both on the Prison and the Pastoral Epistles with a special interest in the Book of Ephesians. I have taught introductory Greek classes along with the elders in my church.

I spent over 16 years as a pastor. I had 2 years of college Hebrew and 1 year of graduate Hebrew Exegesis. As a pastor I regularly used my Hebrew in sermon preparation and having taught for 8 ½ years in college I used it extensively. I have still maintained a proficiency in it.

Microsoft Excel

I have worked with Excel for the past 8 years. It is really one of the best spreadsheet programs I have ever used. I can teach how to format, do pivot tables, macros, graphs and much more. I am a patient tutor working with students at their own pace and not mine.

Microsoft Outlook

I have used Microsoft Outlook for about 9 years both in a corporate setting and in my own personal use. I find it to be an excellent program easy to setup, both for email, calendars, and for keeping track of appointments. I use it to coordinate with both my mobile phone and IPad. Whenever I setup a new computer for a customer I always suggest they getting the Microsoft Office package mot only because of Word and Excel but mostly for Outlook. Setting up accounts like AOL or domain name email accounts are no problem.

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is a great program for composing a letter, brochure, business cards, or journal writing. I have been working with Word for about 9 years now both in Mac and Windows and I love the program.

As a web designer I have had a lot of experience in working with PHP and MySQL developing login pages, online stores, and database web galleries. I have been working with PHP for about 4 years as a professional designer working with both small startup business and businesses seeking to establish an online store. Primarily I work with PHP in Dreamweaver which I love and make the process of development much easier.

Web Design

I have worked in the area of web design for about 8 years 4 of which has been through my own company. I have enjoyed the creative process to bring to fruition a client’s idea for their site. I have worked with php, html, MySQL databases, primarily in a Dreamweaver environment. I have worked in all facets of the development process from stretching out the wire frames (now done on an IPad with Adobe Proto), to coding the site, working with the photos in Photoshop, SOE, uploading to the hosting server along with continued maintenance.
