I teach Portuguese for children and teenagers with Brazilian heritage and for adults who are interested in more in-depth knowledge of Portuguese language and culture, beyond grammar rules. My classes have a communicative approach with emphasis on real-life situations and individual needs. I am flexible and I am able to offer my students many resources beyond classes and I will help students to find real-life opportunities to practice what we are learning in class.
I have over 5 years of teaching and tutoring experience in History and Philosophy in middle schools and high schools, as well as with private students. As a dual citizen of both Brazil and Portugal, I integrate the heritage of both countries into my teaching. As both a historian and a mother of 3 Brazilian boys, I relate to how our cultural diversity builds the foundation of our identities. From the USA to Latin America, I am excited to truly connect with people through Brazilian culture and Portuguese language.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
