My name is Corryn. I completed my Bachelor’s degree at the University of Maryland in the spring of 2012. I am a Special Education Teacher and I have been working in the field for 19 years, starting as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) technician in home therapy programs in 1997, working as a teaching assistant ,and then a Special Education Teacher. I have a Master’s degree in Special Education and pride myself on my ability to make academic achievement attainable for all students.
I like to spend my personal time with friends, trying different restaurants and going to see movies. I also enjoy resting and taking an occasional vacation to a waterfront location. I have traveled up and down the eastern seaboard. I was born in Oakland, CA and have visited there as well. Maryland has been my home for over 33 years and it is where I plan to be for the foreseeable future. I like a good challenge and I try to face all challenges head on. My goal is to continue teaching in secondary education and at the college level. The sky is the limit!
What makes me a great Elementary Math tutor is my ability to take the fear out of math for students. Math is so much fun and I love helping students experience that.
What makes me an outstanding English tutor is my ability to encourage students to think critically, expand their vocabulary, and pay attention to detail while using their imagination.
What makes me an outstanding Special Needs tutor is my wealth of knowledge with adapting the curriculum with fun and interesting lessons and materials. I am patient, caring, and a great motivator. I interact with my students somewhat like a coach would. Providing direction and encouragement and giving correction when needed.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I provide phonics instruction on a daily basis and have developed lesson plans for phonics skills for a variety of learners with varying academic levels.
I am a certified Special Education Teacher. I have provided in-home tutoring for students with learning disabilities and special needs for almost 20 years.
