Hi, my name's Max!

I studied Physics at McGill University and earned my undergraduate degree in 2013. I've been teaching, in one form or another, since I was 16 years old. I started as a staff intern at a chess camp, eventually becoming an assistant teacher there. During my time at McGill I worked as a volunteer peer tutor helping fellow students with introductory math and physics classes. After graduation I took a job as a science instructor at a science and astronomy camp in California. I worked there for almost 6 years eventually becoming an assistant program director.

I tutor math and physics at all levels, specializing at the high school level. My teaching philosophy stems from two main ideas. One is the importance of including real-wold examples and, when applicable, hands-on teaching tools as often as possible. Introducing information in engaging ways and giving students concrete examples to refer to helps lay a strong conceptual foundation for more advanced topics. The second is individual instruction. Each student learns differently, has different strengths and challenges, and needs to be taught in the most effective way for their learning style.

Feel free to drop me a message with any questions or set up an informational meeting. I have a flexible schedule and I'm willing to travel to your home or other locations, whatever best suits your needs.
