Niagara University (Master's)
I am currently a 8th-Grade Inclusion Humanities and reading specialist teacher in NW DC. Our entire curriculum is common core aligned. We also give students several opportunities to practice standards in order to accomplish mastery. I co-teach in a General Education classroom in order to give students with Special Needs the ability to learn in a natural environment. Additionally, I teach a self-contained class full of learners who need more support in their educational journey.
I have a Bachelor's in Secondary Education with a concentration in History and English. I graduated with my Masters in Education in the Spring of 2014, with a 4.0 in Literacy Instruction. I specialize in ADHD, Emotional, Intellectual and Physical Disabilities. I have provided educational support for students as a classroom teacher for the past 5 years and have many successful stories.
I am currently a 8th Grade Humanities Teacher and Reading Specialist, and we are fully Common Core aligned. I am familiar with the standards for english, and have the ability to prepare students for spring testing using this model. Common Core is mind-provoking, and with the proper instruction students will be engaged and successful with this new model of instruction and curriculum.
Elementary, Middle and High School (K-5th)
I am currently a 8th grade Humanities teacher. I help students with reading and writing who are below, on and above grade-level. I have also tutored students k-10th in history, science and history. I am qualified to teach this age group as it takes patience and creativity to provide a genuine and memorable learning experience for students in this age group. I am also unique in that I use disguised learning to master concepts.
I currently teach a leveled literacy intervention program at the school that I work for. I work with a small group of 5th and 7th graders who are reading on a second grade level. They all struggle with phonics, so this is the core of our program. I teach a reading class that focuses on fluency for students at the middle school level who are reading below 3rd grade.
I am have my degree in Special Education. I have also worked as a Special Education teacher for 5+ years. I am also a Special Educator at a Middle School in NW, DC.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
