My teaching philosophy is based on my own desire to never stop learning myself and facilitate others in their learning process. My primary teaching experience has been with undergrads at UMD where I served as a graduate teaching assistant for six semesters and taught Biology, Genetics and Physiology (100 to 400 level courses). I received outstanding student reviews of my teaching performance throughout my tenure. My patience and ability to explain complex concepts were always praised in these reviews. Later, in my work in the private sector, I have mentored associates and taught them practical aspects of Biology. Thus I have never really stopped teaching since my graduate school days!
I specialize in tutoring in Biology and related topics such as Biology, Genetics, Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Pharmacology. I can also tutor in computer operations for those who need help with navigating the newer Microsoft operating systems.
I will offer a 100% satisfaction and will not bill for a lesson if the student or parent is not satisfied with my tutoring. I realize that students and pretty much everyone has tight schedules with unexpected things coming up all the time. So, I am offering a 4-6 hour cancellation policy with the understanding that we try to reschedule the tutoring session at a mutually convenient time.
I hope to hear from you and to continue to teach! I am looking forward to helping you in your studies.

I’m an adult male enrolled in online college. Occasionally you get a subject where you just need hands-on help, and genetics was that subject for me. I was pleased to see how knowledgeable Vin was in my course material. He likes to teach and he’s patient, a great combination.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from UMD. The coursework included a 600 level course in Eukaryotic Molecular Genetics. As a graduate teaching assistant at UMD, I also taught the discussion class for a 200 level undergraduate Genetics course.
My main qualification for this subject is my work experience. I have over 10 years of experience in pharmacology research in the pharmaceutical industry.
