My approach to teaching is understanding the needs of the students. Whether a student needs a tutor to succeed academically or just to expand his/her knowledge on a subject, I try to find the best approach to teaching so at the end is a rewarding experience for both, tutor and student.
I am originally from El Salvador, Central America. I studied Computer Science at the Jose Simeon Canas University UCA, before moving to the US. I love music and philosophy. I have studied and performed with a drum set for 9 years. I will graduate in May 2012 with a degree in General Studies with Concentration in Music Performance.
While in El Salvador, I taught drumming as a freelance tutor. I have also performed with different bands in El Salvador and in Maryland, USA.
My love with philosophy has led me to learn the Latin language, and I found that learning Latin has expanded my understanding of Spanish and English vocabulary as well as to understanding grammar in a more thorough way.
Being a native Spanish speaker, has given me the opportunity to share with friends and coworkers the beauty of a world understood with a different language. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been playing and studying drum set for twelve years now. I have been teaching drum lessons for three years at a private music school. I received an Associates of Art Degree from Montgomery College.
I am a native Spanish speaker. Studied third year of computer science in Universidad Centroamericana Jose Simeon Canas, EL Salvador Central America. I have also studied Latin Language in Montgomery College Rockville MD.Latin helped me to understand more in depth Spanish grammar and the other Romance Languages.
