Hello! My name is Tristen! I'm an aspiring English as a Second Language teacher who loves to give students the tools they need to learn more and grow as individuals. I've taught in Japan briefly before COVID caused me to come back. I have also taught English online for over a year.

I am now working on my Master's in TESOL and getting my teaching certification. I love teaching and tutoring because there is nothing more rewarding than passing on knowledge and skills to others. The teaching theories and methods I've learned in college give me the tools to show students how to become life long learners and great studiers.

I've taught English to both Chinese and Japanese students. My degree is in English as a Second Language, and I am pursing my master's in that field as well. I scored a 2100 on my SAT back when it was out of 2400, which converts to a 1470 in the new scoring system. English has always been my strongest subject, as I love to write and read!

I've played trombone for over 10 years! I started back in middle school and have continued to play it all the way through college. I played in the Rock and Roll Revival show all four years of my high school career at Bennet Senior High. I played in marching band all four years as well. I've also played trombone in the Salisbury University Pops Symphonic Band. I still remember many of the things I struggled with as a student, so I'm able to figure out exactly what students may struggle with when learning the instrument.

If you or your student needs help in English, English as a Second Language, or Trombone, please feel free to contact me! As a life long learner myself, I want nothing more than to help you thrive and become an excellent learner. I'm happy to make adjustments or accommodations that will help you or your student learn to the best of their ability. I'm also more than willing to answer any questions you may have.
