I am very passionate about teaching and working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. I have a Master's degree in Reading Education and a BS in Journalism. I believe that my education combined with teaching experience enable me to understand your needs. My own 5-year-old daughter is Deaf and I am also very passionate about learning to communicate with her in American Sign Language.
I have taught in Baltimore City schools, worked one-on-one with students and I have also taught Developmental Reading at the Community College of Baltimore County for two years and a GED course at Baltimore City Community College. I am extremely motivated to help you reach your highest potential and I believe that you are capable of accomplishing your goals - with hard work and determination. We will begin our time together with assessments which will assist me with learning what your strengths and needs are. After I have carefully examined your work I will create individualized lessons which will be tailored to your specific needs.
Parents - I want your feedback as well. After every session I will tell you exactly what we worked on and what your child's homework will be. I would also greatly appreciate your feedback which will help me to improve our lessons. I believe that every person learns differently and I will do my best to help your child be and feel successful.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My 3-year-old daughter is Deaf. Since she was born I have become very passionate about learning American Sign Language, which is her primary language that she uses to communicate. I feel that I can work with students who are Hard of Hearing. . I have taught in Baltimore City schools, worked one-on-one with students and I have also taught Developmental Reading at the Community College of Baltimore County for two years.
As an undergraduate college student I took a public speaking course, and I think it was one of the most beneficial courses I have ever had. As a teacher, I have had a great deal of experience in public speaking and I have also given presentations to parents where I have needed to speak publicly. Furthermore, I have participated in panel discussions where I have needed to speak in front of large numbers of people.
I have taught Study Skills in various capacities in my experience as a teacher. I worked at a local branch of a nationally recognized tutoring center for a few years and specifically worked with students on how to develop study skills. I have also worked with students one-on-one and in other classroom settings with improving their daily study skills.
I have a Bachelor's in Journalism and I have written articles for newspapers and magazines - both in print and online.
