My goal: to make learning fun while working hard. We will utilize our time together fully engaged in learning and practicing the newly acquired skills. I will also assign homework and be available to answer questions via phone and email.

Since my own children are still learning at home, I am happy to meet students at a mutually agreed upon, central location.

Since 2010 I have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students, teaching a variety of study skills, such as: how to read a text book, note taking, test preparation, getting organized and staying organized, and how to avoid cramming for tests. When students are organized they are more confident. Feeling disorganized can lead to self confidence problems. If I can help young people feel confident and "in control " of themselves, that's most of the battle regarding their academic success.

Knowledgeable and very patient

Martha is great with my daughter who is developmentally disabled. She is encouraging and so patient with her. She is doing very well and I am so happy with the progress that she is making with Martha. She really goes the extra mile for her students to help them learn. If you want to learn sign language, this is the teacher for you.

Great teaching skills

Great pace and encouragement. We got right into the lesson and practiced what we'd learned. Martha recommended helpful curriculum and provided us with other resources to use for reference.

Best teacher!!

I love Ms. Martha! She is so nice and very easy to learn from - as a homeschooler, I've had many teachers and tutors and she is one of the best! She makes learning ASL a lot of fun and very interesting. I'm in my second year with her and wouldn't want any other ASL teacher.

Amazing tutor

Martha has been tutoring our 9 year old son and we are very pleased with the extraordinary support she has provided. My son needed quite a bit of help feeling confident and comfortable writting and Martha made him feel just great right from the start. She is patient, caring and dedicated. I strongly recommend her!

She is very patient and kind!

She was very good about slowing down when a sign or the grammar was new to me. And sped things up when I was familiar with it so we could get to new material. I, also, like how she has a lesson plan for students and sets goals for us to work toward. I really enjoyed my lesson with her and plan to continue!

Tutor with high expectations of her students and yields fast results!

Martha has been tutoring my mother (her native language is Korean) to increase her English skills for over a month. She starts with an assessment to make sure she can customize lessons based on her student's skill level. She is always prepared with structured lessons plans to ensure she maximizes the time with her student. She also prepares homework materials to ensure she provides opportunities for her student to continue learning even beyond the lesson times. Martha expects her students to work hard and for that, the results are visible even in a few lessons with her. Highly recommended!

Very thoughtful & impactful tutor

It’s been great working with Martha; personable, flexible, detail-oriented, and very knowledgeable. While our son is taking a break between SAT tests, she’s been a valuable resource for him with his English Lit class! Highly recommend.

Knowledgeable

Martha is extremely patient. Im very comfortable with her teaching style. She doesn't rush my child, she allows her to absorb the information before moving on to something else. She's a very kind person as well. she always has a smile on her face which makes learning easier for my daughter and lets me know Martha enjoy what she does.
