If you are looking for a statistics tutor perhaps I can help you. I have 2 years experience teaching statistics at the community college level and have tutored students in this subject from a variety of majors including nursing, sociology and business. I hold master's degrees in mathematics from Rutgers University and electrical engineering from Drexel University and have academic training in probability and statistics and engineering experience in statistical analysis.
In addition to statistics, I am qualified to tutor other subjects as well including pre-calculus and calculus which I have taught at the college and community college level and also linear algebra and differential equations. Paul was patient and enthusiastic about helping me to learn statistics. He explained each step and worked through the problems alongside me. He was encouraging and helped me to feel a lot more confident about the material and even followed up with detailed explanations afterwards.
Paul helped my daughter actually learn what she supposed to be learning from an online college course. Math isn't a favorite subject but Paul made it easier for her to get through.
Paul was quick to respond to my call for help. He was kind, courteous and professional. With his pleasant demeanor and sense of humor, he remained pleasant and upbeat even as I struggled through the course content. I quickly understood how much he enjoyed helping students understand the gargantuan of statistics during the phone call before our lesson even began.
Paul was most helpful as he responded to the style and need of the student. I appreciated his approach in doing this.
Our daughter graduated high school with the Class of 2012. She struggled with Algebra I, Algebra II, and geometry throughout high school. She was getting ready to head to college in the fall and took her math placement test in June 2012. She was placed in a non credit, prerequisite math course. Our daughter was not satisfied with the results. Knowing that she was allowed to retake the placement test she wanted us to find her a math tutor. This is how we found Paul K. Mr. Paul worked with our daughter for 9 - 1 hour tutor sessions. Mr. Paul started her back to the basics; Algebra I and worked with her up to Calculus to prepare her to retake the math placement test. Paul was very patience, very flexible with scheduling, and most of all explained each step to her so she could understand all the different levels of math. In mid August 2012 she re-took her math placement, passed it with flying colors, and was placed in a 3 credit Pre-Calculus course in her College. Thanks to Paul and the wonderful way he teaches, she is doing exceptional well in her college math class. We attribute her success to the wonderful start she got with Paul K! Thank you!
Paul was a tremendous help to my son. He was always accessible even when he was very busy and on weekends.
He worked around our schedule and charged appropriately for his time. I recommend Paul very highly for math or Calculus. My son struggles with math but has managed to do very well in school. There are some teachers who move too quickly for him to absorb the information. Paul was very patient and explained each step in each math process for my son and then reinforced it by having him do the problems and make corrections. My son loved Paul's approach and was very happy to work with him. My son passed his course. Without Paul, that would never have happened. I only wish we had found Paul sooner. Thank you Paul!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a wide variety of experience with differential equations both academically and professionally. I have studied ordinary and partial differential equations at the undergraduate level and partial differential equations at the graduate level. In addition having an MS in EE I have studied applications of partial differential equations in Electro-magnetics.
Professionally, working in the area of tracking filters I have programmed simulated target dynamics using numerical differential equation techniques.
I have always enjoyed this subject as a study of applied mathematics. It is a very challenging subject for students and I look forward to opportunities of providing tutoring for it.
I have studied linear algebra in several courses at the undergraduate level including Introduction to Linear Algebra, and The Theory of Matrices. In various courses such as differential equations I I have studied applied aspects of linear algebra.
Professionally I have worked extensively with linear algebra. Radar target tracking was one of my professional areas of expertise as an engineer. The basis of target tracking is Estimation Theory a large part of which studies the principles of least squares estimation. The development of the theory of this subject is heavily dependent on linear algebra because of its extensive use of matrix methods.
Linear Algebra is a very valuable subject for anyone studying mathematical or statistical modeling.
