I recently graduated from UMUC with my Master's in Instructional Technology. Before that I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Stevenson University formally known as Villa Julie College. During as well as after completing my internship I helped tutor two students who struggled throughout the year. These students struggled in reading and phonics. I worked with them two days a week for an hour each and helped them progress reading levels and work on their individual reading skills. I also worked at Charles Carroll Elementary for the school year of 2009-2010 for a tutoring program funded by the school board. Unfortunately the funding was cut after 2010 because of all the budget cuts. But during the time I worked with both Kindergarten and Second grade students. With the Kindergarten students we worked on basic phonics skills such as letter recognition, sound recognition, rhyming, and more. The second grade group worked on reading skills and phonics. I love working with students and helping them succeed and motivate them to want to learn. I really try and pay attention to how they learn best in order to meet their individual learning needs.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary education (k-8) as well as my Master's degree in Instructional Technology. I currently teach technology K-8. I have also tutored a few students in reading, writing, and phonics. I love watching students find that aha moment because they get the concept they were struggling with. I like to find out how the student works first and then apply what they already know to what they need help on in order for them to grasp what they are missing.
I have had a great deal of experience with phonics since my student teaching. I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary education and my Master's degree in Instructional Technology. I teach technology K-8 right now. I tutored a few students during and after my student teaching in phonics and helped them get on grade level reading. I also worked in an elementary school part time in a program that helped students improved their phonics and reading comprehension skills.
