About George

My name is George and I am a unique student and tutor who is pursuing a degree in Chemistry. I have traveled the world including to all seven continents. When I was younger I volunteered to teach English to Spanish-speaking individuals at an institution in Baltimore City. With my unique background and academic experience I have a curious mind and have a rigorous work-ethic.

I have strong ethical standards and have completed a full day ethics tutorial at Johns Hopkins University as well as an ethics certification from the University of British Columbia. I aspire to become a natural products research scientist, bio-prospecting around the world, with a team of scientists to discover new biomedical solutions to modern problems. I love tutoring because I love watching people learn and improve themselves and I have a gift in communicating complex scientific information. I can help as a mentor and will push my students to immerse themselves in the material they need to complete. I am not perfect, but I will do my best to help you along with your studies in any way I can.

I have an Associates degree in Science from the Community College of Baltimore County (Spring 2016). I have tutored individuals in General Biology, introductory Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, and Psychology classes. I have two awards in Chemistry, one from the American Chemical Society (Spring 2016) and one from the Community College of Baltimore County (Spring 2017). I have an award in tutoring as well from the Community College of Baltimore County which I received Spring 2017. I have been a tutor for CCBC for approximately 2 years, tutoring students in science ranging from aspiring research scientists to doctors and nurses. I have experience in tutoring individuals with disabilities and/or individuals that need more sophisticated tutoring. I have prepared aspiring nurses for the TEAS prep. I have completed two science internships, one at JHU (neuroscience) and the other at UMBC (chemistry). If there is a subject I am unfamiliar with, I will not charge you for the time we set.

Contact me and we will figure out if I can help you in the subject you are learning and so we can negotiate a time when we can meet. I look forward to improving your understanding of the beauty of science!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biology

I have tutored General Biology at the college level for almost 2 years now at my institution. I have received an award in tutoring spring 2017 from my institution. I have a gift in explaining biology to students and I have been a straight A student in every biology course I've every taken.

Chemistry

I have tutored Introductory and General Chemistry I at my institution for almost 2 years now. I have won two student awards in chemistry: One from the American Chemical Society for Astounding Achievements in Chemistry and one from my institution. I am a Chemistry major.

Drawing

I have been a visual artist all my life and enjoy drawing. I have no formal education in drawing except except for taking a few drawing classes. But I know how to use Adobe Photoshop Elements and draw periodically as a hobby. My first major in college was as a Visual Art Major, it is one gift I was born with.

Microbiology

I passed Microbiology with an A+ and have tutored it at my institution for about a year while I was taking the class since I could explain the material.

Organic Chemistry

I have tutored Organic Chemistry I and II at the college level for almost 2 years now. Organic Chemistry is my favorite subject and I have received two student awards in chemistry: One from the American Chemical Society, and the other from my institution for Astounding Achievements in chemistry. I am a chemistry major.

Psychology

I can tutor practically every class in psychology since this was my major for 4 years before I changed it to chemistry. The brain and psychology is one of my favorite subjects and I can explain the difficult concepts that are required to be understood at the college level.

Passionate Mentor

George's mind is a mile per minute ...in the best way possible. He is passionate and extremely knowledgeable concerning chemistry. Most importantly he is extremely good at discussing, teaching, and (breaking down) these concepts, as well as applying them to real life. In our first session he broke down the basic (need to know's) for survival in chemistry brilliantly. He was able to assess my stren
