Salve! Hello! I'm Francesco.

Brought up and educated in Italy and the United States, I am equally fluent in both Italian and English, and graduated Manga Cum Laude from NYU. Over the past 20 years, I have worked in the field of Higher Education and gained vast knowledge of course development, instructional design, and in-classroom and on-line training as applied to a variety of subjects.

My tutoring experiences range from coaching Kevin Kline, the actor, in Italian to teaching my native languages to students of all ages, either one-on-one or in group settings. Familiarity with French and Spanish allows me to further bridge gaps in communications. In addition to its rewarding aspects, tutoring builds upon my foundational knowledge of education and allows me to impart my language skills in a creative manner. My students’ progress and achievements inspire me to continually revise my learning plans and objectives.

With all family members living abroad, I have many opportunities to spend extended periods of time in Rome, Venice, and France’s Rhone-Alpes Region. As a result, I have developed a tutoring approach which combines the foundations of Italian vocabulary and grammar with up-to-date conversational skills and current-day idiomatic expressions. In addition, my exposure to regional cultures and dialects provides students with a geographical reference to this romance language. The overall result of this knowledge and experience is that my students learn Italian in a fashion which often transcends traditional textbook models.

I want to be available, as much as possible, to prospective students and those with whom I work. Therefore, I am easy to reach and always provide fast responses to communications. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and/or to schedule a lesson.

A presto.

A terrific tutor! Professional and fun.

Francesco is so polite and professional (and funny). We met at my local library and I immediately felt at ease. I was a little embarrassed by my pronunciation, but Francesco was very encouraging and patient. He prepared a wonderfully personalized lesson plan for me which included his original PPT slides and handouts. The slides include audio examples of pronunciation which I really love. I have been studying Italian on my own, but Francesco’s lesson gave me confidence to finally speak the language. After the lesson, Francesco told me all about Rome and Venice, and where to find the hidden gems (restaurants and off-the-beaten path places to visit). I’m definitely continuing to study with Francesco!

Comfort in working with students of different skill levels

My spouse and I are taking lessons together and have different language skills. Francesco is comfortable in teaching us a the same time and making sure he listens to our annunciation individually to help each of us improve our Italian speaking abilities. He's very at ease in his approach to teaching Italian.
