Is math confusing and difficult for you? It doesn't have to be! I'll help you increase your math skills and grow in your self-confidence.
I'll explain the different concepts to you in simple, interesting ways-- bringing in your own experiences and things you already know. Then we’ll work a few problems. With each problem, I’ll ask you to show me what you know about it, even if you aren’t sure. We’ll work from there until you understand it well. Then you’ll practice doing problems by yourself (with me as your back-up).
I am very good at explaining math concepts to students who are having trouble understanding. One of my students recently told me that she was beginning to help her friends with their math, and that she explains things to them the way I've explained them to her! And another student was just "promoted" to the honors math class!

Larry helped both of my kids with math. One of my kids is in very high level math and the other is in the basic level in High School. Larry was proficient with both of them. But more than that, he was extremely easy for them to relate to and actually engaged with the lesson in a way that hasn't happened in the past. My high achiever was happy to understand how to apply the methods to more complex problems, and my child who struggles with math actually tackled the problems in a way he never had with Larry's guidance .
Larry is very patient and prepares detailed lesson plans that aid in a targeted tutoring session for my daughter. He goes beyond our expectations by answering questions and searching for extra practice worksheets outside of our tutoring sessions.
Larry has been a great help for an upcoming trig test and was patient when we went over the various trig functions that were going to be on the test. Larry helped me understand intervals and the horizontal shift during graphing.
Larry was very knowledgeable and encouraging to my daughter who is in 9th grade Honors Geometry. He helped her at the last minute for a test and was very responsive to emailing to arrange meeting in a tutor room at the library. He knew all the material she presented with ease. She felt much more confident after two hours and we owe that to Larry! Highly recommend him as a tutor!
Was very patient, punctual, and kind. He helped me work through all of the difficult problems that I was unable to do and carefully explained each topic extensively. By far an excellent tutor. Look forward to working with him again.
I actually gave Larry 5 Stars. Larry helped prepare my daughter for her upcoming exam. I was quite impressed with his teaching skills, wealth of knowledge, and patient and encouraging attitude. My daughter felt more confident after just one session with Larry.
He was knowledgeable and was prepared to teach. My daughter is excited to learn geometry whereas she was previously nervous and uneasy. Larry makes himself available via email on days he don't tutor to ensure my daughter understands the material
After our first session, I already know that Larry is going to be one of my favorite teachers of all time! Not only does he teach math in context but he makes it completely engaging and understandable. He's a wonderful teacher!
Larry is a great tutor. He met with my daughter and developed a plan to assist her in becoming successful and confident in math. He is passionate about helping children develop math skills. My daughter really enjoyed her first meeting and is looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend his services!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I taught middle school math/prealgebra in Baltimore, and I helped my students to understand the positive and negative integers, the fractions, the exponents, PEMDAS, the graphs, the simple one-variable equations-- knowledge that carried them on to success in high school math. I believe that everyone wants to move forward and accomplish something, and often needs extra support. I can be that support!
