My name is Adriene and I am a certified elementary/early childhood teacher. I taught first grade for School District of Philadelphia before I moved to Maryland last summer with my husband. I am currently a Stay At Home Mom with my 10 month old little boy. Although I cherish the time I spend with him, I would like to reconnect with my passion for teaching elementary students. Tutoring is the perfect solution before I go back to teaching full time.
Having taught in a classroom of 32 diverse first graders, I am extremely equipped in differentiating instruction in a way that will allow your child to learn up to his/her maximum potential. I prefer multiple teaching methods, including modeling, educational games, manipulatives, a variety of materials, and cooperative learning. I also feel that allowing my students to choose how they want to learn provides for a greater learning experience. I also value parent input and will have an open line of communication with you regarding your child's progress.
In addition, I plan on getting my Master's Degree in Reading in the near future and hope to tutor students needing assistance in reading. Teaching is my passion and and I thank you in advance for trusting me with your child's education. As both a mom and a teacher, I know that you want the best for your child and I will work hard to make that happen. My name is Adriene and I am a certified elementary/early childhood teacher. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I currently hold a valid teaching certificate in PA and NJ and in the process of getting my MD certificate as well.
I have prior teaching experience in all elementary school subjects and prefer grades K through 3. I have many useful materials that I have created or collected along the way and I am always trying to come up with new, creative ways to teach a particular subject matter.
Before I became a teacher, I taught drug and alcohol prevention as well as character education in classrooms throughout South Jersey. I always incorporate character education within my teaching and will continue to do so as a tutor.
