Grand Valley State University (Elementary Education)
College of Notre Dame of Maryland (Master's)
My love of educating and teaching others has been fueled by my own life long devotion to learning. I am a passionate, dedicated elementary teacher with seven years of experience in both 2nd and 4th grade primarily. I began my career working with Teach For America, an organization that promotes educational equity for under-privileged youth across the country. I spent two years in the Baltimore City School System helping my students make tremendous growth in the areas of reading and math. Through this experience I have learned that all children can learn and improve through hard work and quality instruction. I am currently employed with Harford County Public Schools where I have continued to challenge and inspire my students to strive for excellence in everything they do. My own love of learning and desire to improve drove me to earn my Master’s Degree in Elementary Mathematics instruction from the University Of Notre Dame of Maryland. I am extremely committed to helping all children reach their full potential.
I specialize in all areas of elementary education, but my strengths are in the area of mathematics and reading instruction. I have worked with a diverse range of learners and have a variety of strategies and instructional methods in my teacher toolkit. My goal is to assess each student’s strengths and weaknesses and then provide targeted lessons with skills and strategies that will promote growth. After each session, I will provide a practice assignment for homework, and I will give periodic assessments to check growth and progress.
In addition to having high standards for my students, I set high standards for myself as an educator. I encourage feedback and hope to work with parents to be an educational support for families.
Although I am flexible with my time during the summer months, I do request that cancellations be made at least 3 hours in advance. I would be happy to reschedule lessons at that time.
To ensure that students have a quiet, comfortable place to study with me, I prefer to hold tutor sessions at the public library. However I am willing to travel to other locations if it would be more convenient for the student.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your child reach their full potential!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As an elementary public school teacher, I have been teaching using the new common core standards for the past two years. I am familiar with the current grade level standards and expectations, as well as many of the new strategies and methodology. I also have a working knowledge of the new expectations in regards to PARCC testing in the upper elementary grades and the rigor required for success in these new endeavors.
I have a current, up-to-date Maryland teaching certificate. Additionally, I have been employed with Harford County Public Schools as an elementary teacher for the past five years. I have taught both 4th grade and 2nd grade, so I am well equipped to teach at a variety of age levels.
