I have 15 years of experience working with special education students with emotional and behavioral challenges. I coached basketball, junior varsity team for 8 years winning back-to back championships in a 16 team league. I organized a "Renaissance Program" at the school, which provided rewards and incentives for students that showed progress in school attendance, improved behavior, and improved grades from one semester to the next. The Renaissance Program was the only one in the country at a special education school. I attended court hearings as an advocate and mentor for students. I delivered Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to needy families during the holidays. I am well versed in social sciences and has taught character development as well as anti-bullying curriculum, while employed by the school.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been the Clinical Director of a Special Education school with 62 students. I developed Individual Education Plans in conjunction with the classroom teachers and related service providers. Implemented treatment plans in conjunction with other mental health agencies. I have also conducted staff training on ADHD and provided supervision to graduate students enrolled in clinical classes at Howard University.
I coached special education students in basketball from 2001-2009, at the Academy for Ideal Education, while serving as the Clinical Director. I initiated the program and recruited a varsity coach. I provided counseling along with teaching the techniques of dribbling, shooting, and understanding how to play defense. The Junior Varsity team won back to back championships in a 16 team league.(Greater Christian Metro Athletic Conference). I purchased equipment, scheduled games, transported players to games in school van, planned and implemented all sports banquets at school. Ordered trophies and maintained equipment.
I worked as Juvenile Counselor with students involved in the criminal justice system Coordinated treatment services at the Alexandria Correctional Center, working with young adults incarcerated with substance abuse problems.
I coached a softball team for three years, comprised of adolescents with a history of contact with the criminal justice system. We won a city-wide championship during the last year of coaching.
I provided individual, group, and family counseling to students with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, anger management issues, and facilitated anti-bullying groups. I've also worked with teachers individually and in groups to provide training on classroom behavior management. In addition, I worked with special education students individually to provide tutoring on a wide range of subjects, to assist them in becoming academically eligible to compete in sports.
I have 16 years' experience working with elementary age students in a private school. I tutored students in social studies, English, reading and vocabulary development. As the Clinical Director, I took on long term assignments with specific students to prepare them for standardized tests.
