I have over 15 years' experience teaching which includes workshop and seminar presentations. I started in the high school setting teaching grades 9-11, and then began teaching adults at the collegiate level in the English and Human Services Departments of Delaware Technical and Community College. My specialties are English, grammar, and composition. I also teach people the art of public speaking. I am a published author and a motivational speaker as well.
My passion for educating and helping people from all walks of life to have a positive learning experience comes from my days of being an English tutor in college. I was at the top of my English Composition class, with a very challenging instructor. It was nothing for her to give us a pop quiz on something she taught the day before. While very few students were passing her class, I had an A+. So many of my classmates were coming to me, discouraged and frustrated, and wondering if I could help them. I began tutoring them and fell in love with their enthusiasm once their hope was restored. I realized then I wanted to be a teacher and changed my major in the 2nd semester of my freshman year!
My philosophy of education is everyone is capable of learning and achieving but each one learns in his or her own unique way. Therefore, it was very important to me once I became a high school teacher and a college instructor that my students learning styles were catered to. You may be a visual learner, while someone else may be an auditory learner. I, myself, am a tactile learner. I learn while doing. Whatever your learning style, I am here to accommodate it and help you to succeed!
I have a very flexible and fair schedule, but simply ask that my students provide me with 24-hour notice of any cancellation. I am also extremely respectful of the value of time; therefore, you will always start your session and end your session with me on time. And I will never ask you to pay for a session that you did not feel 100% satisfied with.
To ensure that students are comfortable, I meet with them at my office in downtown, Salisbury, MD. For special circumstances and cases, I can come to them or meet them in a neutral location.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping you to be all that you are destined to be: a success! I have over 15 years' experience teaching which includes workshop and seminar presentations. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have been a published author since 2007. This opened doors for me to begin doing motivational speaking events at conferences, organizations and churches. Today, my speaking engagements have spanned across international lines. I am equipped to teach people proper diction, tone, posture, eye contact, content, and delivery, thereby helping to build confidence. I also write and administer sermons at my church frequently.
