Adobe Photoshop is a complex application; it is the best image manipulation program out there, but learning to use it can be intimidating to say the least. I have been a Photoshop user for almost twenty years, mostly in publishing but also for photo restorations and color correction of wedding pictures, and general post-processing for digital photographers.
I also have teaching experience with some older graphic arts applications as well as Photoshop. I enjoy teaching, and generally get positive feedback from my students. I am a member of National Association of Photoshop Professionals, so through their publications and tutorials I keep up to date with the latest Photoshop tools.
My main area of expertise revolves around photographic correction, using Adobe Camera Raw (part of Photoshop) as well as Photoshop itself to create the best possible reproduction for any given image. If this is an area of interest to you, I would be pleased to pass along as much knowledge of this amazing software as you are willing to absorb.
I think the most important thing I have to offer is my long time real world experience in the software. I can show a student many shortcuts and tips to help achieve practical results in Photoshop, so you can quickly get up to speed and make corrections/improvements to your own images. Stanley was patient and soft spoken. I was immediately at ease with him and I look forward to practicing what I learned today.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a former color and quality manager for Smithsonian Magazine and Gift Catalog.
I am a former color quality supervisor for many magazines and catalogs, including Southern Living, Coastal Living, Health, Time-Life publications, National Geographic Magazine, as well as Victoria's Secret, Lane Bryant, Chadwick's, Paragon, Petals, and many more.
In the years I worked in the printing industry, I became proficient in graphic photography, and when most photography went digital, I became an expert in correcting, improving, and manipulating digital images of all sorts. While not an authority on taking pictures, most people today are more interested in working their images on the computer, at which I excel. I have almost 20 years experience in Photoshop, as well as several plug-ins, and have successfully produced images for companies ranging from National Geographic and Smithsonian, to Victoria's Secret.
