About Crispin

I am the principal of a real estate development company which is based in Annapolis, Maryland. Prior to starting my company in 1996, I was the President of the US arm of a publically traded UK based public company. After graduating from university in England in the early 1970's and working in property management in Manchester, I emigrated to Montreal, Canada to take a position with a multi-national company before moving to the US in 1980. I have spent the last twenty five years in senior positions and have successfully run businesses in a number of different industries.

I possess considerable experience in sales development, financial controls and administration. I can offer guidance to young professionals, graduates and students. I am a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. I am the chairman of a non-profit that provides financial aid for students who are members of the Boys & Girls Clubs attend schools of higher education in Anne Arundel County. I am also a mentor in the ACE mentoring program and lecture students in two area high schools on architecture, construction and engineering.

I am a perfectionist when it comes to the use of the English language and feel that its misuse, and the inability to articulate in both the written and spoken word, is a root cause of many problems that we face in society.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Business

I have run my own business for 17 years and have developed real estate throughout the USA.

I was the co-founder of the Annapolis & Anne Arundel Scholarship Trust which provides scholarships for first gen' low income students.

I am a guest lecturer at John Hopkins University Dept of Real Estate.

I am a Board member and mentor of ACE and lecture in Business at Annapolis High School, Maryland.

Grammar

I was educated in the UK at one of the premier British private schools and passed exams in English Literature and English Language.

I received a BS in Real Estate Management from Liverpool John Moores University. I have contributed professional articles on both trade and educational subjects during my business career.

I am a Board member and mentor of ACE and lecture in Business at Annapolis High School, Maryland.

Public Speaking

I was a member of the debating society at my boarding school in England. We would be challenged to debate subjects from contrasting positions. The world is flat, the world is round. Take and argue one position.

As a Board member of Johns Hopkins Real Estate Program, I have been invited to lecture to students on a variety of subjects. My approach has been to engage in discussion rather than lecture.

As a Board member of the Washington DC chapter of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, I have had to address students, members and guests on many subjects.

As the past Chairman of the British American Business Assoc. in Washington DC, I have had to host meetings, talk about the benefits of membership, debate various subjects with other chambers.

Public speaking is also a requirement as the Chairman of the Boys & Girls Scholarship Trust.
