About Elizabeth

Hello! My name is Elizabeth, and I am a teacher and a freelance musician. My primary instruments are the flute and the piccolo. As a graduate of The Peabody Institute and UMBC, I have a Master’s of Music, a Certificate in American Contemporary Music Performance, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance. I have been teaching since 2007, when I first started my private studio. Since that time I’ve taught privately and in the classroom. It’s my belief that any student can learn and benefit from the disciplined study of music.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Flute

As a graduate of UMBC and the Peabody Institute, I hold a Bachelor's, a post Baccalaureate certificate, and a Master's degree in Flute Performance. In addition to studying the flute for over 15 years, I have taught private flute students of every level for nearly a decade. Additionally, I am qualified to teach Piccolo.

Music History

As a graduate of UMBC and the Peabody Institute, I hold both a Bachelor's and a Master's in Music Performance. In earning these degrees, I have taken and passed numerous classes in Music History, completed several subject-specific Musicology seminars, and completed original musicological research on specific subjects within the scope of Music History. I am qualified to publish papers on music history, as well as to teach the subject.

I Highly Recommend Her

Elizabeth is very detail oriented. She pays attention to very important basic skills like finger placement on the flute and even body positioning. She provides great suggestions for practicing at home what she has taught. I highly recommend her.
