Dear future tutee,

I went to Atholton High School in Columbia, Maryland and graduated in May of 2011. I am currently a Senior at Juniata College majoring in Biology graduating in Spring of 2015. I plan to go on to graduate school for zoology in the coming years after gaining some more experience.

As far tutoring goes, most of my focus is in the biological sciences. I can assist with biology, ecology, and zoology, but also have experience in chemistry and organic chemistry. Additionally, I am able to help with lower level math courses such as algebra 1 and 2.

I would describe my tutoring style as a questions based approach. In that, the student who I'm mentoring brings me questions on topics or pieces of information they do not understand and I do my best to clarify difficult concepts. This way both the student and I get the most out of the tutoring session by addressing the specific roadblocks troubling the student.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success!

Subjects

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I took Algebra 1 in middle school and performed very well in the course moving onto Algebra 2, Precalculus, and then Calculus. In order to be successful and move into these upper level courses I needed to acquire a strong foundation of the basics in this course. Considering I moved on to do well in the aforementioned 3 subjects, I believe my Algebra 1 skills are top notch.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I took Algebra 2 in high school and performed very well in the course, which laid the foundation for Precalculus and Calculus. In order to be successful and move into these upper level courses I needed to acquire a strong foundation from the Algebra 2 material. As I performed well in both Precalculus and Calculus, I believe my Algebra 2 skills are strong.
Biology,

Biology

Having majored in Biology at Juniata College I have a well rounded insight into all areas of biology including both micro and macro-biology. I performed well in my introductory courses, which is largely the level of detail that will be gone into for students I tutor. I believe my educational background makes me suitable to tutor in this subject.
Chemistry

Chemistry

From my program in biology at Juniata College I was required to take 1.5 semesters of chemistry to support my biological studies. I am very familiar with the basics, in both concepts and mathematical applications problems. Because chemistry is necessary to supplement my studies for my bachelor's degree in biology, it was necessary to be successful and really master the concepts, making me adept to tutor chemistry.

Ecology

When I majored in biology at Juniata College, I tailored my upper level biology courses to prepare me for my graduate studies in zoology. This included taking both an ecology course and courses relating to the study. I performed well in the course and have a interest in continuing to learn more than just the basics and believe I am qualified to teach other students in an ecology course.
