Bio

Hi! I am a former high school math teacher back in grad school studying to be an aerospace engineer. I really liked teaching overall, but I wanted to go back to school and learn about something I've always been interested in--helicopters! I'm really enjoying myself, but I miss interacting with students, and I'm trying to make a little extra money. I'd love to help you with your math or physics troubles.

I've always been really good at math, and I got my bachelor's degree in physics, so I know a lot about how math can be used to solve problems. I have six years of teaching experience, teaching mostly geometry, though I am completely at ease teaching any high school math topic, including calculus, as well as basic physics.

I am patient with my students and I try multiple approaches to get students to understand the material. My focus is always on building problem-solving skills that will stay with students much longer than memorizing specific processes.

I live in Columbia, and I'd prefer to take on students in the immediate Columbia/Howard County area. I look forward to working with you.

Geometry,

Geometry

I have five years experience as a high school geometry teacher, including honors/pre-AP level classes. I love geometry. I feel that too often, students get bogged down with trying to memorize a bunch of theorems. I like students to focus on why those theorems make sense. This will inevitably make proofs much easier.

She was patient

We worked on trigonomic functions going over sample questions by reviewing explanations. She walked me through answers I missed on a recent test. She used to be a math teacher

GEOMETRY

She tutored my son geometry. He is happy with the torturing he got and she seems knowledgeable. She is patient and willing to work with him until he fully grasps the concept. She is punctual and flexible with schedule.

Knowledgeable and patient!

Though we are just starting, Stacy seems excellent. Her experiences working with this age group means that she knows how they might approach the work. She is patient and easy to work with. I got an A on my first test later that week, after our session. At least we are starting off on the right footing.

Great tutor

Stacy is very knowledgeable on the subject. She took the time to explain things step by step and made sure to cover some basic concepts. I look forward to having Stacy help my child improve this year in Trig/Physics.

Stacy is very patient and instills confidence

Stacy has helped my high school students build confidence in her math and physics skills. She is punctual, responds to messages, is full of knowledge and is a lifelong learner herself. Stacy is very patient and very easy to work with!
