All students have the capability to learn. It will be my job, as the tutor, to help foster and support your child in this.
I currently teach high school history and also have 12 years' experience at the middle school level teaching social studies and English. I have worked extensively with at-risk and/or underperforming students 1-on-1 to help improve their performance.
In addition, I was the gifted and talented coordinator at my former middle school. This allowed me to challenge students on rigorous content.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Elementary k-6 will focus on the developing the basic skills of reading, writing, spelling, and math in a child. Child will develop their reading skills through before, during, and after reading strategies and improve their vocabulary development. Students will also master their addition, subtraction, and multiplication tables. I have had several years of helping students do these things.
I currently hold a USSF National C coaches license. In addition, I have coached on the high school and club level since the 1990s. I believe in the importance of developing the technical aspects of a player first and that becomes the basis to move forward on the soccer pitch.
This subject will focus on improvement on good study habits and helping the student become more responsible for their own learning. This can include, but not limited to, notebook organization, setting up personal study area, study routine, and vocabulary development. I have worked with several at-risk students with improving their study skills in an after school setting. In addition, as the gifted and talented coordinator I would pull students out of classes to help develop test taking strategies.
