About Allison

I have been teaching Hebrew classes for 10 years and have specifically enjoyed working with elementary and middle-school-aged children. I believe that learning is best accomplished through a variety of modalities, including music and movement, recognizing that an individualized, creative approach allows for engaged activity.

When a child looks forward to learning, the process becomes more fluid and our goals become more focused. I can assist with Hebrew reading and writing, Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation and speeches, and learning/singing prayers.

Homework assignments will reinforce the previous lesson's material and is age appropriate with regards to time and content. I have a 6 hour cancellation policy, except for emergencies.
I welcome email inquiries and will respond in a timely manner. I look forward to working collaboratively with you and your child by providing a relaxed, inviting, and productive learning environment.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Hebrew

I have been teaching 3rd and 4th grade Hebrew classes in a private school for the past 10 years. During this time, I have developed an interactive curriculum in order for the children to be fully immersed in their learning. My teaching methods involve using a variety of modalities in the classroom to optimize variations in learning styles. These may include music, movement, games, books, role playing or children's videos where we may watch native speakers. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology, a master's degree in counseling psychology, a graduate certificate in employee assistance programming and am an amateur musician.
