About Jaihong

I'm a full-time Korean Instructor for SWEG in Fort Bragg. I have been teaching Korean for two years. I am a devoted teacher who loves to teach Korean to any student, whether he or she is a civilian or a soldier in the great US Army. In my whole life, I have been involved in education and teaching. I also have a plethora of gifts and talents to offer, teaching wise. Patience is the one virtue that describes me as a successful teacher. Many teachers all over the world have a difficult time acquiring patience towards their students. Whether I have to deal with class clowns or with people who do not understand foreign languages quickly, I will use my patience as a way to give my students the best Korean education they receive.

In college, I have also been trained for teaching and took many education classes. I have studied diligently enough that if I move back to South Korea, I am able to teach science to sixth through twelfth graders. A Science Teacher’s Certificate proves that I am a devoted teacher.

Throughout my life, I have acquired many years of experience in teaching. From 1999 to 2003, I taught Korean in Korean Schools located in Texas and Kentucky. I also have been teaching Korean in MiLanguage Corp. for about a year. Teaching at the Corp. has been a great experience for me. Even though I am not a soldier in the US military, I feel that teaching Korean is a way for me to contribute to the American society. I also have many experiences teaching about the Bible. I am a pious man who believes God will guide his way of life. I believe God has set me on the path to teach Korean to soldiers, and if I receive this teaching job, I will work to the best of my ability.

Also during this experience, I have learned to communicate well with my students. Sometimes teachers are too busy to help their students individually. But almost every Saturday, I come to tutoring to individually help my students pass their final exam because I care for their future. I also have acquired effective strategies to teach my students. My teaching style is very creative and dynamic. I always check students’ responses from my teaching and spontaneously modify my teaching plan to benefit my students’ learning. I explain grammar clearly and let my students practice in class until they fully understand and become accustomed to use it. I also teach the students through role play, pair works, and group project. It works very well. I also let my students ask questions about the Korean language to create an interesting, learning environment for the students and to get students to retain more knowledge. They learn fast and grow quickly in their Korean skills. Using this strategy, all of my five students have passed the OPI exam; three of the five passed with a perfect score of 1+/1+. My students even say that they enjoyed learning Korean under my direction.
I love and enjoy teaching, especially Korean. If I am given the opportunity to teach Korean, I will use my patience, my teaching style, and all my teaching experience to benefit the soldiers of the American Army and the United States of America.

I have two Master's degrees. The first one is a Master's in Church Music and the second is a Master's in Divinity.

I also have two Bachelor's degree: one in Physical Science and one in Vocal Music.

I've taught Korean in Fort Bragg in Hardy Hall for 2 years. I have also worked as Music Director at Korean Baptist Church for 6 years. Additionally, I have two years' work experience as a singer in a professional choir in Seoul, Korea.
