As for my background, I am a retired teacher who has taught in St. Mary's, Charles, and Prince Georges counties. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Ohio State University and have done some graduate work at Johns Hopkins University School of Education. I love working with children and gain great satisfaction when a student is learning.

I am very knowledgeable in subjects taught in the elementary grades for Regular Education students. With my Special Education students I have always been very successful in determining and meeting their needs. With all my students I first build a relationship and then meet their needs on whatever level they might be on.

My goal is always to meet the student's needs - both educationally and emotionally - when it comes to learning. I have experience working with children who are Pre-K, Elementary, ADD/ADHD, Autistic, Learning Disabled, and Developmentally Disabled. I use positive reinforcement to motivate my students. I have extensive experience in developing and implementing Individual Educational Plans. I am able to set realistic goals and objectives based on the parent's desire and the student's needs.

Delia has many experience for teaching kids how have special needs. My son has improved of accounting and writing some letters correctly. My son has two hours each week, and he remembers what she teaches him. She is an awesome tutor. I wish I could rate her more than five stares. I will recommend her for my friends.

Great Tutor

Mrs. Delia is a great tutor especially for special need kids. She is very patient & knowledgeable and my son (4th grade) enjoy the lessons with her. My son struggled with reading comprehension, Mrs. Delia give him appropriate materials to read and make sure he understand the reading materials thoroughly by asking him relevant questions. She always provide detailed feedbacks about the lessons. My son's reading improved a lot after one year's lessons with her. His school teachers were also noticed the differences. We like her teaching styles because she set up realistic goals and then trying to achieve these goals step by step. We look forward to have her back for lessons for the next school year!

We are very grateful for Ms. Delia

My work schedule prevents me from spending the time to ensure my child completes her homework, and understands it. Ms. Delia has been wonderful and understanding of the job that I do, and has been very patient with me and my child. My daughter is doing better with reading and math thanks to her. update: 11/27/12 My child is doing progressively better in reading and math. She is performing on grade level and is doing better with recognizing basic site words. Her after-school program teacher has noticed a huge difference in her level of confidence and participation during literacy activities. Thank you Ms. Delia!
