About Liam

I am currently a PhD student in mathematics at the University of Maryland. As an undergraduate, I also attended the University of Maryland where I majored in mathematics and minored in physics. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA and received high honors in mathematics. I have four years of tutoring experience through the UMD physics department, local high schools, and local middle schools. In addition, I spent the last year as a teaching assistant for the University of Maryland, so I have experience leading a classroom, and preparing students to succeed in college. I am always excited to help people learn!

I have four years of tutoring experience starting as a freshman in undergraduate studies. I love seeing the moment when a student finally understands a concept because I remember how good a feeling this was when I was learning. I have also led official discussion sections for University classes which gives me a qualification that many other tutors cannot boast. I can tutor almost all undergraduate math classes, and many physics classes as well.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I have taught calculus at the university level, and have taken 6 upper level proof based courses in undergrad and grad school.

Discrete Math

I have taken two courses on discrete math (scoring A's in both courses) and I have taken multiple upper-level, proof-based math courses requiring knowledge of discrete math.

Linear Algebra

I have taken college level linear algebra, and I scored an A as my final grade. Moreover, after my initial lower level linear algebra, I completed three semesters of proof-based algebra including an abstract treatment of vector spaces, field theory, and abstract algebra.

SAT Math

I scored a perfect mark on the SAT math section and am a PhD student in mathematics. In addition, I have four years experience tutoring.
