About Stephanie

My name is Stephanie. I double majored in both mathematics and physics as an undergrad and I did my graduate work in applied mathematics and scientific computing. I fell in love with math through my love of physics and I've always seen math as a way to see the beauty in the world. While I am an accomplished mathematician and scientist, my passion lies in teaching. I taught at the University of Maryland, College Park for 3 years and I am currently teaching high school math and computer science in Annapolis. I have taught courses that include, algebra, pre-calculus, probability, AP statistics and calculus while I've tutored in almost every math course offered. I've also tutored algebra- and calculus-based physics.

My favorite part of teaching is helping struggling students succeed in a subject they thought they had no business learning. It is a pleasure to be a part of their learning process. I'm a patient and compassionate teacher, and I believe it is important to tailor my lesson to the background and interests of my students. I like to find ways to make the subject relevant to you and your life. If the way I am teaching the lesson isn't working for you, I will find new ways to explore the topic.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want any additional information. I would love to meet you and see how I can help you succeed!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Great tutor! — My son was struggling with physics and precalculus and Stephanie was able to help him understand the material. She was very patient and broke things down to a level that he was able to understand. She is on time and flexible. ...
