In high school, I started to help at a Saturday school as a Chinese teacher. Although the average age of my students was six, I developed course plans to meet academic and intellectual needs of the students. I understood that young kids love to play games and I designed several games that related to Chinese language and culture to help them to learn better. Besides teaching in the class, I also routinely met with students’ parents regarding in-class issues to discuss solutions.
Helping at the Saturday school made me fall in love with teaching. After attended in college, I was looking for the opportunities to help other students. Luckily, I joined Splash activity at school and taught Chinese cooking to high school students. Different from before, this time I cooperated with other teachers to help students in need of extra attention. Also, since my students were much older and with distinct cooking background, I designed lesson plan focused on level-appropriate material. All these teaching experiences helped me to become proficient in creating and maintaining effective student-teacher relationships and adept at preparing class materials to help my student for achieving academic goals.
After the Splash actively, I applied to be a teaching assistant of a genetic lab course. This time I was more confident than before. Even though I was the only undergraduate teaching assistant, I demonstrated an attention to detail in preparing solutions and ensuring adequate materials for laboratory experiment to my peers as well as took initiative to facilitate the work of other graduate teaching assistants by processing grades and distributing information. This experiment made me enjoy teaching even more and I have learned more strategies to communicate with my students and help them.
I am very excited to be a tutor and help others. Although I have not tutored algebra 1 and 2 or geometry, with my teaching skills, I am very confident I will help you to master these subjects. I will design personal lessons based on individual's level and background. I hope I can help you not only learn, but also enjoy learning.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra 1 is always one of my favorites. In order to help students to understand it , I would make them to learn the basic concepts first. After they master the basic knowledge, I would teach them some tricks to help them to solve the questions faster and more efficient.
During college, I have been tutoring and working as a teaching assistant. I am good at turning boring subject into something fun and interesting. A lot of people do not like math but I believe that I can make the lesson enjoyable.
