University of Maryland College Park (PhD)
I'm a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, where I completed a physics and math double major. My experience with tutoring goes back several years when I started offering help to my friends and colleagues with any difficulties they would have with physics, math, and programming. My personal favorite and likely strongest aspect of my physics and math knowledge is when the two come together in the form of mathematical methods for physics, and ordinary/partial differential equations (ODEs/PDEs). Moreover, since the previously mentioned subjects rely on more fundamental concepts that stem from algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus, I am quite proficient in these subjects as well.
I am currently still at the University of Maryland, now pursuing a PhD in physics. During my time as a graduate student, I have completed several graduate courses in physics and applied mathematics, while at the same time doing my PhD thesis research in the field of space plasma physics.
It is one of my hobbies to pass down my understanding of a subject that I am passionate about. My experiences with tutoring have been only enjoyable and effective. It is commonly accepted that the most important part of tutoring is to make sure the student's feet are firmly planted on the fundamentals, and this is what I aim for as well. A solid foundation is the only way for a student to climb higher. I'm a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, where I completed a physics and math double major. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took my first calculus class when I took AP Calculus BC in high school, and received a score of 5 on the AP exam. Ever since then, I have completed several calculus related courses during my college career, such as Differential Equations, Multivariable Calculus, Advanced Calculus I & II, and Partial Differential Equations. In addition to course work, I use much of the above mathematics on a daily basis in my research.
I took my first Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) class as a freshman in college, following introductions to the subject in high school through AP Calculus and AP Physics classes. Ever since then I have completed mathematical methods courses in the physics department and Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) from the math department. In addition to course work, I use ODE and PDE theory on a daily basis since my research in plasma physics is formulated entirely in terms of differential equations.
I took my first physics class when I took AP Physics in high school, and received a score of 5 on the AP exam. Ever since then I have completed a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and taken several graduate physics courses as well. I am currently in my 4th year of graduate school working to get a PhD in physics, specializing in space plasma physics.
