About Leandra

My passion for teaching comes from a lifelong love for learning. As a magnum cum laude graduate of physics, I know that hard work, discipline, and dedication to learning and education can pay off. My academic achievements include the Dean's List, Society of Physics Students Vice President (Local School Chapter), and the opportunity to present my senior project on a national platform. As a recent graduate I am able to reach the modern student not only on the college level but on an elementary one too.

I have been a member of Girl Scouts since my youth, it has given me the opportunity to tutor both girls and boys in both math and science through the age ranges of 5-18 years old. Not only did I assist with homework but I prepared my students for future assignments and to achieve higher grade level success. I was awarded "Guru of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) award from the local Girl Scout Council.

By far tutoring is the most rewarding job I've ever had!

I specialize in tutoring both math and science. My goal is not to just prepare students for standardized testing but to invoke the love and passion for learning S.T.E.M. My math background is extensive due to my college major of physics. I have tutored on an elementary math level - counting, addition, subtraction, etc. to a high level college math- calculus (I, II, III,), statistics, differential equations, and linear algebra.

My qualifications for physics include conceptual physics to Quantum Theory and everything in between. These topics include but are not limited to Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics, and Computational Physics.

I hold myself to a gold standard. For that reason, I ask for the student to provide feedback and I will never bill a lesson in which the student or the parent is not completely satisfied with my tutoring session.

I am completely flexible with my time. I do ask to have a 24-hour cancelation policy. I offer make-up sessions for your convenience.

To ensure students a quiet and safe environment in which to work with me, I tutor at local libraries and coffee shops.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success now and in the future.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Prealgebra

I have extensive knowledge of word problems, fractions, trigonometry, and early statistics (probability).
