I received my undergraduate degrees in Urban Studies and Political Science from the University of Maryland, and my Masters Degree from the Johns Hopkins University. I have over ten years experience teaching K-8th grade students in a variety of settings including after school academic clubs, summer camp enrichment sessions, and private tutoring. These experiences have been in the areas of reading, including phonics and comprehension; mathematics; and science. Several of my clients are ADD/HD and for these individuals I attempt to improve their executive (study and organizational) skills. Tutoring needs to be individualized to meet the student's learning style and improving their academic success.
I am certified to tutor subjects for young adults that include Algebra, Accounting, Vocabulary, and Writing. My experience with young adults and older students includes tutoring for the GRE exam, Praxis, and various high school and college level courses. I passed the CPA exam in 1982. She is an excellent tutor. My daughter learns a lot with her. Her grades went significantly up scale. I will highly recommend her.
Renee is doing a great job!
Thanks to Renee, I can relax in knowing that my son has someone that he can trust and know that he's learning from the best. It's been about three weeks now and my son feels more confident about math and feels great when attending class. Renee is a wonderful tutor and has more patience than ever. Having Renee as my son's tutor takes away the stressful days of my son's struggle in this area. With Renee there's no way we can lose, we can only move forward in striving for the A's ahead. Special thanks to Renee and the WyzAnt Family!
I'm so happy with this decision, my daughter was pleased with the way she was very prepared, and her step-by-step explanation. Looking forward to a great relationship. Thanks.
My daughter is very shy and has always had a hard time raising her hand in class to ask questions about the work the class is doing. As a result she has brought her homework home and had little to no idea what to do. Renee has helped her understand what she is doing wrong in Algebra. She listens to her and understands her confusion, providing the one-on-one teaching that she is not getting at school. They have each others phone numbers, too, and Renee encourages my daughter to call her whenever she needs help-although so far, she has been so thorough during the weekend tutoring no phone call has been needed! In helping my daughter understand Algebra, Renee has helped my whole family, because now there are no tears during nightly homework! She is highly recommended!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
